Network Engineer

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain LAN, WAN, and cloud networking solutions.
• Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and wireless controllers.
• Monitor network performance; perform capacity planning, tuning, and optimization.
• Implement network security best practices: segmentation, access controls, IDS/IPS, and patching.
• Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, and performance issues; perform root-cause analysis.
• Manage IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and multicast as needed.
• Implement and maintain SD-WAN, SDN, or cloud networking services (AWS/Azure/GCP) where applicable.
• Maintain network documentation: topology diagrams, runbooks, change logs, and configuration backups.
• Participate in network design reviews, migrations, and upgrade projects.
• Implement high-availability and redundancy (HSRP, VRRP, link aggregation).
• Automate network tasks using scripting (Python, Ansible, Perl) and IaC tools (Terraform).
• Collaborate with security, systems, and application teams; support incident response.
• Perform firmware/software upgrades and manage vendor relationships.
• Provide after-hours support/on-call coverage as required and mentor junior staff.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years experience in network engineering or administration (adjust by level).
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, MPLS, VPNs, and QoS.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Fortinet, or equivalent network hardware.
• Experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies.
• Familiarity with network security controls and best practices.
• Proficiency with network monitoring and analysis tools (Wireshark, NetFlow, SNMP, Nagios, SolarWinds).
• Scripting/automation experience (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-have

• Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, JNCIS/JNCIP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or cloud networking certs.
• Experience with cloud networking (VPC peering, Transit Gateway, Azure Virtual WAN).
• Knowledge of wireless networking design and site surveys.
• Experience implementing SD-WAN, network virtualization, and micro-segmentation.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD for network changes.
• Pay: QAR73.21 - QAR152.23 per hour
