Network Engineer

Overview

Role Purpose

Strategic Planning and Leadership

• Contribute technical expertise to the development of network implementation plans that support the bank’s digital transformation and operational resiliency, with focus on ACI fabric integration
• Provide input to platform lifecycle planning, hardware/software refresh cycles, and automation roadmaps in coordination with architecture and management, driving NetDevOps principles
• Collaborate with peer teams across infrastructure, security, and workplace platforms to ensure cohesive design and delivery.
• Ensure business objective alignment to network products and services.

Data Network Platform Ownership

• **Advanced ACI & SDN Design: Support the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of Cisco ACI and Nexus Dashboard environments, ensuring secure multi-tenancy, consistent policy application, and high-performance fabric connectivity across data centers.**
• **NetDevOps & Automation: Drive "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) initiatives by utilizing NetDevOps tools and frameworks (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform) to automate configuration management, zero-touch provisioning, and network observability.**
• **Create, own, and drive the maintenance plan for network products and services under direct accountability**
• **Support the engineering and delivery of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, load balancing, DNS/DHCP/IPAM (DDI), and NTP solutions across branches, corporate offices, data centers, cloud environments, and remote ATMs.**
• Implement and maintain secure and highly available network services based on enterprise design standards and platform roadmaps.
• Apply deep working knowledge of routing, switching, IP services, and network segmentation to ensure network performance and scalability.
• Ensure that all network products and services are delivered and maintained with lifecycle planning, high availability, resiliency, reliability, and future scalability in mind
• Manage integration with telecom providers, cloud interconnects, and international network links to support global operations and remote ATM connectivity
• Ensure network products and services are aligned to regulatory requirements and internal security architecture frameworks.

Operational Excellence

• Execute network change activities (configurations, migrations, upgrades) with strong focus on change management, documentation, and minimal disruption.
• Participate in end-to-end project delivery from detailed design to implementation and support.
• Perform regular health checks, patching, software upgrades, and preventive maintenance across network components.
• Support major incident response ensuring timely incident resolution, including root cause analysis and post-mortem analysis.
• Manage execution of proactive and preventative maintenance activities with vendors as specified in AMC contracts.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Champion NetDevOps practices, contributing to automation and standardization efforts including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), network configuration management, zero-touch provisioning, and observability enhancements

• Recommend opportunities for network performance improvements and platform modernization based on usage trends and technology evolution, especially within the ACI and cloud environments.
• Participate in PoC initiatives and knowledge-sharing forums to upskill within the team.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement continuous improvement initiatives for accountable network products and services focusing on enhancing network infrastructure efficiency, resiliency, and reliability.
• Collaborate with vendors and industry partners to stay ahead of networking trends,
• NetDevOps methodologies, and ensure technology roadmaps align with business needs.

Network Delivery

• Support network delivery for new branches, corporate locations, data center, and cloud environments ensuring utilization of highly standardized design patterns.
• Manage and coordinate delivery requirements inclusive of cabling, racking, configuration, and testing.
• Drive automation initiatives for repeatable tasks to increase speed and consistency
• Ensure all implementations are aligned with approved HLDs and LLDs and meet performance and compliance targets.
• Collaborate with service providers and internal teams to provision telecom services and circuits.
• Ensure network readiness to support modern workplace needs including collaboration tools, mobility, and guest services.

Network Operations

• Monitor and respond to incidents, alerts, and escalations affecting the data network environment ensuring timely resolution.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize recurrence.
• Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support as required to ensure service continuity.
• Ensure all network products and services under accountability are fully managed and supported with proactive monitoring, capacity management, fault tolerance.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of network assets, licenses, and connectivity services.
• Ensure regular execution of maintenance activities to ensure technology currency and network availability.
• Support operational readiness reviews for newly introduced network capabilities.
• Ensure network product and service recovery strategies are implemented and tested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering roles
• Proficiency in routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, STP), VPN, SD-WAN, Cisco ACI design experience (HLD/LLD), Nexus Dashboard, Cloud Networking, Wi-Fi solutions, load balancers /application delivery, DNS/DHCP services and Telecom Services (MPLS/Internet Direct, ADSL, PRI).
• Strong practical experience in NetDevOps concepts and tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform, Git)
• Familiarity with network automation concepts and tools is a plus
• Experience in managing network infrastructure in on-premises and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven experience in network design, delivery, and operations in regulated environments (i.e. banking, government, telecom).
• In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN/WiFi, SD-WAN, ACI (Design/Deployment/Operations), Load Balancing / Application Delivery, DDI, Routing Protocols (BGP/OSFP/EIGRP), VPN, Telecom Services (MPLS/Internet Direct, ADSL, SIP, PRI).
• Relevant industry certifications in Networking, Security, Cloud, Service Management and Project Management (e.g., CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, Azure/AWS, ITIL, PMP/Prince2/Agile) are a plus.
