The role
The full-time Multi-Skilled Engineer is based in the Haverhill manufacturing kitchen.
The role maintains production and site-services equipment and reports to the engineering supervisor.
The manufacturing kitchen relies on fault finding and problem solving across a broad range of equipment and situations.
Key ownership areas
- Maintain site electrical and mechanical equipment for machinery, buildings, support services, and utilities.
- Carry out reactive maintenance, diagnostics, and root cause analysis to minimise production downtime.
- Perform proactive machine maintenance according to the planned preventive maintenance schedule.
- Identify improvements and work with the site team to implement them.
- Carry out occasional installation work while primarily maintaining machinery uptime.
- Complete planned maintenance safely, cost-effectively, and within agreed standards and timescales.
- Support compliance reporting, scheduling, and actioning of reports.
Who KatKin is looking for
- At least five years of experience in an engineering or technician role.
- Strong experience in a production, manufacturing, or FMCG environment.
- Solid electromechanical fault-finding ability.
- Good interpersonal skills and an approachable manner.
- Respect for all members of staff regardless of role.
- Flexibility to work five days per week according to production requirements; exact hours are to be discussed.
Nice to have
- Previous team leadership experience.
- Qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Experience with steam boilers and steam cooking processes.
- Electrical capability, preferably with an 18th Edition Electrical Regulations qualification.
- Knowledge of food safety, food hygiene, or HACCP standards.
- Knowledge of Multivac lines is preferred but not essential because training will be provided.
