Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Gather and translate business requirements into KPIs, metrics, and reporting specifications.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards aligned with business objectives.
  • Build and maintain semantic models / datasets (Power BI dataset, star schema) to ensure scalable reporting.
  • Create automated, scheduled reporting where appropriate and ensure reports are accessible, consistent, and user-friendly.

Data Preparation & Modelling

  • Collect data from approved sources (e.g., databases, Excel, line-of-business systems) and perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation using Power Query (M) and other approved tools.
  • Develop and optimize DAX measures and calculations to support accurate insights.
  • Maintain a consistent metric definition (single source of truth) and support master data consistency where applicable.

Data Quality, Governance & Documentation

  • Perform routine data quality checks and reconcile reporting outputs with source systems.
  • Document datasets, KPI definitions, report logic, refresh schedules, and data lineage to support auditability and continuity.
  • Apply appropriate data access controls and follow internal policies for confidentiality and information security.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and improve dashboard performance (model size, refresh time, visuals, DAX optimization).
  • Identify opportunities to standardize and streamline recurring reports and reduce manual reporting effort.

Stakeholder Support & Enablement

  • Act as the key point of contact for assigned reporting areas, providing guidance on best ways to interpret and use dashboards.
  • Conduct basic user enablement sessions (how to read dashboards, filters, drill-through, export options).
  • Coordinate with IT / data owners / vendors as needed for data access, source stability, and refresh reliability.

Business Analysis

  • Engage business stakeholders to understand needs, objectives, challenges, and reporting outcomes.
  • Conduct workshops/interviews to elicit and clarify requirements, definitions of KPIs, and data sources.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements and acceptance criteria for reporting solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and supporting artifacts.
  • Plan, coordinate, and moderate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business users.
  • Support the business during UAT, resolving misunderstandings, and ensuring acceptance criteria are met.

Change Management & Adoption

  • Support rollout by preparing user guidance (quick reference notes) and conducting brief walkthrough sessions for stakeholders.
  • Gather feedback post-release and prioritize enhancements in coordination with the reporting manager.

  • Define performance goals at the start of the year with the reporting manager and ensure achievement throughout the year.

  • Demonstrate ownership, accuracy, and professionalism in all deliverables and stakeholder interactions.
