Overview

• ***The AIS-R Teacher*** **The Purpose of the AIS-R Teacher:** To cause thinking, learning and action; *to cultivate inquisitive, independent, and resilient learners who inspire positive change in their communities.* **Qualifications:*** Minimum of a bachelor's degree and valid teaching certificate (North American or equivalent certification)
• Certification in subject area and/or grade level is required
• Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred
• A proven record of excellence in prior teaching posts for a minimum of two years (full-time, K-12 teaching)
• Expertise in subject matter
• Fluency in English
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• keeps up to date with AIS-R policies and expectations; fulfills all expectations as outlined in the Faculty/Staff Handbook, and makes a difference beyond the school day
• meets professional duties effectively and adheres to the AIS-R Code of Conduct, professional dress code, and Child Safeguarding agreements
• understands and implements student safeguarding practices, including mandatory reporting as well as participation in any inquiry regarding an AIS-R community member
• understands and supports the school in creating a positive, nurturing and engaging environment that addresses the individual needs of each student
• designs and delivers lessons, content and materials, in line with AIS-R’s standard curriculums and teaching standards, and utilizes various learning mediums to meet differences in learning preferences
• demonstrates knowledge of student individual strengths, interests, motivations and abilities and plans coherent instruction in order to challenge and support student learning and well-being
• Maintains effective classroom control, organization and management
• manages student behavior, keeps records of behavior, and monitors progress
• creates a caring, respectful student-centered environment conducive to developmentally appropriate learning
• an engaging presence in the classroom, plans and prepares coherent learning plans with clearly defined outcomes aligned with subject level standards and benchmarks using the Understanding by Design framework
• systematically gathers, analyzes, and utilizes all relevant data to measure and facilitate student academic progress
• clearly communicates learning targets and assessment criteria
• prioritizes instructional strategies aligned with AIS-R’s Learning Principles
• assesses student learning with clear criteria that are aligned with learning goals
• collaborates with colleagues, parents and the community members to collectively advance our mission and enhance student learning
• organizes, plans and runs clubs/after school activities as a part of AIS-R’s co-curricular program.
• engages in the school’s professional development program and professional growth & evaluation process
• partners with families through ongoing communication, conferences and the accurate reporting of student progress honoring divisional reporting timelines/expectations
• honors AIS-R policies and procedures and maintains a high standard of personal conduct.
• **Terms of Employment and Additional Responsibilities**:Salary is assigned from the Faculty salary schedule; the contract term is 190 days.
