Role Overview

Required Experience

• Demonstrated firsthand experience in at least two areas including enterprise development, web services, relational or spatial databases, NoSQL databases, microservices, containers, APIs, or cloud-native development.
• Qualification may be met through a relevant master's degree and two years of experience, a bachelor's degree and four years of experience, or six years of experience in software engineering or development.

Desired Experience

• Experience developing customized code, scripts, modules, macros, or libraries for specialized spatial analysis functions.
• Experience integrating geospatial commercial off-the-shelf software, specialized databases, hardware, and geodata processing solutions.
• Experience with government or commercial imagery products, including SAR or related RADAR imaging technologies.
• Experience developing geospatial information systems and using open-source or proprietary geospatial formats.
• Experience with geospatial tools such as PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, ArcGIS, OpenGeo Suite, and related data formats.
• Experience abstracting systems through standards-based APIs and Open Geospatial Consortium standards.
• Experience developing terrain analysis visualizations or algorithms and automated detection algorithms.

Technical Skills

• Languages and development technologies may include Java, JavaScript, Python, PHP, C, Perl, web services, microservices, APIs, containers, orchestration, and cloud platforms.
• Geospatial tools may include Boundless Spatial, Remote View, PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, Image Server, and File Geodatabases.
• Geospatial data may include KML, KMZ, NITF, TIFF, JPEG, GeoPDF, and similar formats.

Responsibilities

• Develop software engineering solutions using enterprise application development, web services, databases, microservices, containers, APIs, or cloud platforms.
• Create customized code, scripts, modules, macro procedures, or libraries for specialized spatial analysis functions.
• Integrate and tailor geospatial commercial off-the-shelf software applications and maintain specialized software and databases.
• Integrate related specialized hardware and identify or remedy geodata processing bottlenecks through engineering studies.
• Work with government and commercial imagery products, including SAR or related RADAR imaging technologies.
• Develop and maintain geospatial information systems using open-source and proprietary geospatial formats.
• Use geospatial tools, databases, data formats, and operating platforms such as PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, ArcGIS, and OpenGeo Suite.
• Abstract new or legacy systems through standards-based APIs and web services, including Open Geospatial Consortium standards.
• Develop terrain analysis visualizations, terrain analysis algorithms, or automated detection algorithms.
