Join the Microbiology team at ALS Environmental in Wakefield as an Analyst 1.
The position is intended for someone building or expanding a career in environmental science and laboratory work.
Contract and salary
- The position is permanent and full-time.
- Salary is £25,878 per annum.
Working pattern
- The role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a mix of 8:00am–4:00pm and 1:00pm–9:00pm shifts.
- Occasional work until 10:00pm may be required depending on business needs.
- Weekend shifts are rotated, occasional bank holiday work is required, and staff participate in a rotated 24-hour on-call rota.
Day-to-day duties
- Process samples in line with the Quality Management System.
- Meet sample completion targets and deadlines.
- Coordinate with team members for efficient sample processing.
- Understand and respond to customer requirements.
- Follow COSHH Risk Assessments for safe chemical handling.
Essentials
- Minimum A Level in Science or equivalent qualification.
- Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures carefully.
- Good communication skills and basic IT proficiency.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage workload independently.
- Customer-focused approach and commitment to service.

- Annual leave starts at 25 days and increases to 30 days, plus eight public holidays, pro rata for part-time work.
