MEP Engineer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Review MEP design drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and technical submittals; identify design conflicts, constructability issues, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare method statements and work procedures in line with project specifications, approved drawings, and applicable standards.
• Support the Technical Manager in consultant and client coordination; prepare submissions, respond to RFIs and comments, and follow up on approvals.
• Attend technical and coordination meetings with consultants, clients, and project teams.
• Provide technical guidance to site teams and MEP subcontractors; coordinate MEP works with civil, architectural, structural, and other disciplines.
• Supervise MEP installation for compliance with approved drawings, method statements, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Monitor installation progress and coordinate site activities to meet project schedules.
• Review and track material take-offs and support quantity verification.
• Participate in site inspections, quality audits, and HSE reviews; coordinate timely corrective actions.
• Maintain technical documentation and keep project records updated.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, MEP Engineering, or a related discipline; minimum 4 years of hands-on MEP engineering experience in construction projects.
• Strong site-based MEP engineering and multidisciplinary coordination experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP and MS Office; Revit MEP or BIM coordination experience is an advantage.
• Good understanding of MEP construction sequences and installation practices; project experience in pipeline networks, building construction, and/or waterworks.
• Knowledge of NFPA, ASHRAE, BS, and IEC standards; familiarity with UAE Civil Defense requirements and local construction practices.
• Ability to review MEP drawings, specifications, and technical documents and prepare clear, structured method statements and submissions.
• Good written and spoken English and strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills.
• UAE/GCC construction experience is preferred; experience with Chinese contracting or construction companies is an advantage.
• Must be site-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working under pressure in a multidisciplinary project environment.
