MEP - AutoCAD Draftsman

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare MEP shop, construction, coordination, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, electrical, and other MEP layouts.
• Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify discrepancies and coordinate services.
• Prepare builder’s work, sleeve, equipment layout, and installation detail drawings.
• Update drawings for consultant comments, site requirements, approved changes, and RFI responses.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, consultants, subcontractors, and site teams.
• Conduct site visits to verify dimensions, existing services, and installation conditions.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision records, and document control.

Technical Skills

• Advanced AutoCAD 2D skills are required for MEP drawing preparation.
• Working knowledge of Revit MEP and Navisworks supports BIM and clash coordination activities.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, fire alarm, electrical, and containment layouts is required.
• Knowledge of UAE construction practices, codes, and authority requirements is required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, drafting, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience as an MEP Draftsman in a UAE construction company.
• Strong experience from design and shop drawing stages through project completion and handover.
• Good understanding of MEP installation methods and construction drawings.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with project stakeholders.
• English language proficiency is required.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Technical strength, high accuracy, and the ability to work under project deadlines are valued.
• Experience coordinating multiple MEP disciplines on active construction sites is valued.
• Knowledge of DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, and relevant municipality requirements is advantageous.
• UAE project experience and familiarity with consultant approval procedures are highly valued.
