Mechanical Site Engineer

Role overview

HVAC installation

• Supervise installation of FCUs, AHUs, FAHUs, fans, ductwork, VRF systems, chilled water and refrigerant piping, and accessories.
• Check ducts, dampers, access doors, grilles, diffusers, flexible connectors, valves, strainers, PICVs, insulation, and related work.
• Coordinate equipment locations, access clearances, maintenance needs, and interfaces with architectural, ceiling, electrical, and other MEP services.
• Review HVAC shop drawings, builders' work, submittals, and installation details; monitor leakage tests, flushing, pressure testing, balancing, and commissioning.

Plumbing installation

• Supervise domestic hot and cold water, drainage, soil and waste, vent piping, fixtures, and related installations.
• Check pipe routing, gradients, levels, supports, sleeves, cleanouts, valves, and access provisions; coordinate heaters, pumps, drains, and sanitary fixtures.
• Monitor pressure, leakage, drainage flow, and flushing tests; coordinate rough-ins and final connections for toilets, pantries, kitchens, and other fit-out areas.
• Ensure plumbing works follow approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable local authority requirements.

Site execution and coordination

• Plan daily site activities and deploy manpower, materials, tools, and subcontractors to meet the project programme.
• Coordinate with civil, architectural, joinery, ceiling, electrical, fire protection, ELV, and other trades.
• Review approved shop drawings and site measurements; identify constraints, discrepancies, and clashes; raise RFIs and coordinate resolutions.
• Track milestones and report delays, constraints, and recovery needs; coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, and authorities where applicable.

Quality, safety, testing and handover

• Ensure compliance with approved drawings, material approvals, method statements, ITPs, project quality requirements, site HSE procedures, permits, and safe practices.
• Conduct internal checks before consultant inspection requests; maintain records of inspections, tests, deliveries, progress, and approved drawings.
• Rectify snags, non-conformances, and defective installations within required timelines.
• Coordinate pre-commissioning, testing, balancing, commissioning, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, test reports, snagging, and final handover.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–7 years of relevant HVAC and plumbing site execution experience; UAE interior fit-out experience is preferred.
• Experience in commercial, hospitality, retail, office, or similar fit-out projects.
• Knowledge of HVAC ductwork, chilled water, ventilation, drainage, and domestic water supply installations.
• Familiarity with UAE authority requirements, including Dubai Municipality and DEWA as relevant to project scope.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other site trades.

Technical and professional skills

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office, and site reporting or documentation.
• Ability to read MEP shop drawings, coordinated drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules.
• Strong site supervision, execution, problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage site manpower, subcontractors, materials, and competing priorities; focus on quality, safety, productivity, and deadlines.

Preferred profile and performance

• Hands-on engineer able to manage installation activities independently, coordinate trades, resolve technical issues, supervise subcontractors, and deliver to specifications and programme.
• UAE fit-out project experience and immediate availability are preferred.
• Performance indicators include installation targets, inspection approvals, reduced rework and material waste, timely commissioning and handover, HSE and quality compliance, coordination, and accurate reporting.
