Role Summary

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting) scope on MEP contracting projects across the UAE—ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

•Review contract documents, IFC drawings, specifications, BOQ, and method statements; identify scope gaps and raise RFIs/technical queries as required.

•Develop mechanical work plans, manpower/equipment deployment, and short-term look-ahead schedules aligned with the project baseline program.

•Coordinate shop drawings, builder’s work drawings, calculations, and material submittals; ensure timely approvals and proper revision control.

•Lead site execution for HVAC ducting/piping, chilled water systems, VRF/VRV, ventilation, plumbing and drainage, pumps, insulation, and firefighting piping/equipment as applicable.

•Coordinate with BIM/coordination teams to resolve clashes and produce coordinated layouts prior to installation.

•Manage subcontractors and direct workforce: productivity tracking, daily planning, progress measurement, and corrective actions.

•Plan and control procurement and delivery: material take-offs (MTO), vendor follow-up, delivery inspections, and storage/handling compliance.

•Ensure compliance with applicable standards and local authority requirements (emirate-specific), as well as project HSE rules and permit-to-work processes.

•Implement QA/QC: inspections, test plans (ITP), MIRs, checklists, and snag rectification; maintain inspection records and handover dossiers.

•Coordinate testing & commissioning activities with specialist vendors/commissioning teams; support pre-commissioning, flushing/pressure tests, balancing, and integrated testing as required.

•Prepare and submit progress reports, dashboards, and weekly/monthly updates; highlight risks, constraints, and mitigation actions.

•Support commercial controls: monitor material and labor consumption, identify variations, assist with VO substantiation, and manage site instructions.

•Coordinate with other disciplines (electrical, ELV, civil/architectural) for interfaces, openings/sleeves, supports, and access requirements.

•Drive close-out: as-built drawings, O&M manuals, training support, handover/TOC readiness, and defect liability follow-up.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
  • Typically, 5–10+ years of mechanical project engineering/site engineering experience with MEP contractors in the UAE or GCC, including high-rise, commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing/drainage, and firefighting systems, installation practices, and commissioning principles.
  • Familiarity with common international standards/codes used in the UAE (e.g., ASHRAE/SMACNA for HVAC; NFPA for firefighting) and emirate-specific authority requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, schematics, single line diagrams, specifications, and coordination/BIM models.
  • Valid UAE driving license is an advantage (role dependent).
