Overview
- Roles & responsibilities
- Perform **material selection and specification** in line with project requirements
- Ensure compliance with international standards such as ASTM International, ASME, NACE International, and API, along with **QatarEnergy specifications**
- Conduct **corrosion assessments**, failure analysis, and material degradation studies
- Review and approve **Material Requisitions (MRs)**, **Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs)**, and vendor documents
- Coordinate directly with **clients** for approvals and technical clarifications
- Support procurement, fabrication, and construction phases with technical inputs
- Review **coating systems, cathodic protection**, and insulation specifications suitable for Qatar’s environmental conditions
- Participate in **HAZOP, risk assessments, and integrity management program.**
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate material solutions into product designs, ensuring compatibility and performance.
- Conduct failure analysis on materials to determine the root cause of issues and recommend improvements or alternatives.
Desired candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred for specialized roles.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in materials engineering, particularly in sectors like Oil & Gas.
- Experience with **QatarEnergy or similar Clients**
- Strong knowledge of corrosion, material selection, and sour service
- Strong English communication and client-handling skills
- Ability to effectively engage with diverse teams
