Manager: Technical Lead/Senior Developer- AI, Data & Analytics- AIDA (Toronto/Calgary)

Role overview

What you will do

• Design and build end-to-end applications with modern front ends and backend services.
• Translate Audit & Assurance processes into digital solutions using software, automation, and AI.
• Build Python tools, data-processing scripts, APIs, scheduled jobs, event-driven services, and workflow orchestration.
• Develop LLM features for extraction, summarization, generation, structured outputs, RAG, and conversational experiences.
• Build agentic capabilities using tools, multi-step execution, state management, human checkpoints, and enterprise integrations.
• Choose pragmatic solutions across conventional software, deterministic automation, generative AI, and agentic AI.
• Design and maintain APIs, data models, and integrations across relational and NoSQL stores and enterprise platforms.
• Build reliable production systems with testing, evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, error handling, and fallbacks.
• Engineer systems for security, privacy, performance, and scalability, including secure and auditable interactions.
• Own engineering practices for testing, CI/CD, documentation, and code quality; lead architecture reviews and mentor developers.

Required qualifications

• 10 or more years of software engineering experience, including designing and operating production applications and setting the technical bar for engineers.
• Strong full-stack experience with modern web applications and back ends such as React/Next.js and TypeScript, and Python/FastAPI, Node.js, .NET, or comparable technologies.
• Strong Python skills and experience automating business processes, manipulating data, integrating systems, and eliminating repetitive work.
• Experience designing APIs, integrations, and distributed applications, with knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures.
• Production experience with generative AI applications, LLM APIs, prompt and context engineering, structured outputs, and RAG.
• Experience building agentic AI capabilities and applying AI evaluation, testing, guardrails, retries, fallbacks, and human oversight.
• Hands-on experience with at least one of Azure, AWS, or GCP, plus containers and modern CI/CD.
• Strong engineering judgment, communication, and collaborative technical leadership across business stakeholders, product teams, and engineers.

Additional desired experience

• AI application frameworks such as LangChain/LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or AutoGen; vector databases, enterprise search, embeddings, or advanced RAG.
• Tool/function calling, Model Context Protocol, and AI evaluation or observability tooling.
• Reusable automation frameworks, internal developer platforms, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, or cloud-native architecture.
• AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code; responsible AI, data governance, security, or compliance.
• Technology delivery for Audit & Assurance, finance, accounting, or other regulated business processes.

Work model and locations

• The work model is hybrid.
• Primary location is Toronto, Ontario; other available location is Calgary, Alberta.

Compensation

• The stated salary range is $88,000–$158,000, with possible eligibility for a bonus program. The posting does not specify the salary cadence.
