Manager, Engineering

Position summary

Work arrangement

• Full-time, permanent role based out of the Vancouver or San Diego office on a hybrid model, with three days per week in the office.

Leadership and delivery

• Lead and coach iOS, Android, and web engineers and build an accountable, collaborative team culture.
• Own delivery from discovery through release, including planning, sequencing, risk management, and stakeholder alignment.
• Set technical direction for mobile and web architecture, integration patterns, and quality standards.
• Partner with Product and UX to shape customer-focused experiences that are practical to build and aligned with product strategy.
• Coordinate across backend, platform, identity, data, and go-to-market teams to align work with business priorities and customer commitments.

Engineering practices and AI

• Establish practices for code quality, automated testing, release readiness, observability, accessibility, and performance.
• Use AI and emerging technologies to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and identify improvement opportunities with responsible, secure, and compliant use.
• Introduce and scale shared AI-assisted workflows for code review, testing, or documentation, ensuring weak AI output is caught and corrected before release.

Required qualifications

• BSc in computer science, engineering, or another STEM field, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, including native mobile, web development, or adjacent product delivery.
• At least 2 years in technical leadership, team leadership, or engineering management.
• Strong people leadership, technical judgment, and communication skills.
• Experience with Swift, Kotlin, React, TypeScript, React Native, and Kotlin Multiplatform.
• Experience introducing or scaling a shared AI-assisted workflow, template, or tool with a clear process for correcting weak AI output.

Preferred experience

• Experience with identity, verification, fintech, risk, or compliance platforms is a plus.
• App Store or Play Store releases, feature flags, analytics, crash reporting, and product observability experience is a plus.
• Cloud-backed applications, microservices, APIs, and secure data handling experience is a plus.

Interview process

• The process includes a recruiter interview, hiring manager interview, panel or assignment presentation, and final leadership interview.
