Maintenance Helper

Role Overview

Essential Duties

• Start up, operate, monitor, inspect, and shut down packaging machines and process equipment.
• Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and perform simple machinist duties.
• Perform daily and regular preventive maintenance on plant equipment, machines, and facilities.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic production machinery.
• Read equipment manuals and work orders to perform maintenance and service.
• Perform plumbing maintenance, carpentry, conveyor maintenance, and conveyor component repairs.
• Use hand tools, power tools, electric meters, and material-handling equipment.
• Track electronic maintenance and repair records.
• Assist with line production when required and maintain plant housekeeping.
• Help ensure team adherence to OSHA safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and production-machine repair ability is required.
• Working knowledge of hand tools and strong computer skills, including Outlook and Excel, are required.
• Food-industry experience is an asset, and one year of maintenance experience is preferred.
• Candidates must be able to work with seafood and some meat products.
• Candidates must be able to follow safety regulations and maintain clean, orderly work areas.

Workplace and Schedule

• The work location is in person at the Mississauga facility.
• The position is full-time and temporary with the possibility of becoming permanent.
• Candidates must reliably commute to Mississauga or plan to relocate before starting.

Compensation

• Pay is $23.50 per hour.
