Logistics Officer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, transportation, delivery schedules, and site access.
• Handle customs clearance for imports, track shipments, and resolve delivery issues with suppliers, freight forwarders, brokers, transporters, and site teams.
• Prepare logistics plans and reports aligned with schedules, material needs, purchase orders, project requirements, and construction milestones.
• Monitor movement to and from construction workfaces and coordinate heavy or oversized transportation when required.
• Ensure safe handling, loading, unloading, storage, and transportation; coordinate deliveries around storage and work-front availability.
• Develop logistics procedures, method statements, and standard operating procedures; identify risks and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain material receipt, delivery, and movement records and provide shipment updates to stakeholders.
• Support logistics planning for new projects, including resources, manpower, equipment, budgets, and timelines.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, company policies, regulations, and contractual obligations; support HSE activities and safe work practices.
• Identify ways to improve processes, reduce transport costs, minimize delays, and improve project efficiency.

Knowledge and skills

• Knowledge of construction project logistics, inbound and outbound operations, materials, equipment, and site logistics.
• Knowledge of import/export, customs clearance, transport planning, heavy and oversized cargo, and logistics documentation.
• Ability to coordinate deliveries with construction schedules and work fronts and work with suppliers, freight forwarders, transporters, and multicultural teams.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio; ERP experience required and SAP knowledge preferred.
• Able to prepare logistics reports, KPIs, tracking logs, and delivery schedules.
• Knowledge of HSE requirements for transportation, lifting, loading, unloading, and material handling.
• Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

Experience and education

• Minimum 5 years of overall logistics experience.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in construction, EPC, infrastructure, oil and gas, or industrial projects.
• GCC experience is preferred; two or more years is an advantage. Large-scale construction experience is highly preferred.
• Experience with international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs authorities, and transport companies is an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certification or training in logistics, supply chain, customs, or transportation management is preferred.
