Job purpose
Manage procurement and storage of spare parts, tools, oils, and consumables required for the DMT Project.
Maintain optimal stock and coordinate with the Service Administrator to keep maintenance items available and avoid downtime.
Local purchasing
- Source spare parts, tools, lubricants, and consumables from approved local vendors.
- Compare quotations, issue Local Purchase Orders, and follow up with suppliers for timely delivery.
Storekeeping and inventory
- Receive, inspect, and safely organize incoming materials.
- Track stock levels, item movements, and issued materials; update inventory logs and report usage to the Project In-Charge.
- Set minimum stock requirements with the Service Administrator and reorder proactively to prevent shortages.
Documentation and cost control
- Maintain purchase, receipt, and store-transaction records; check materials against purchase orders and report discrepancies.
- Follow procurement and stock procedures, optimize inventory holding costs, and track market price changes.
- Recommend alternative suppliers or items when delays or quality issues occur.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or diploma in Procurement, Inventory Management, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in combined purchasing and storekeeping, preferably in automotive or fleet maintenance.
- Truck and equipment spare-parts knowledge is an advantage.
Skills and competencies
- Inventory control, negotiation, and vendor-management skills.
- Basic mechanical or technical understanding of vehicle parts and fluids.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic stock or procurement software.
- Strong organization, multitasking, attention to detail, and accurate record-keeping.
Working conditions
- Based at the DMT Project site in the store and workshop area, with regular contact with local suppliers, technicians, and the Service Administrator.
- Must be available for urgent procurement or item issuance; the environment may include heat, dust, and equipment noise.
