The Opportunity

QBE is hiring a Life Acceptance Underwriting Manager for the Middle East.

The role will lead development of a newly created Life Acceptance Underwriting function.

The position provides technical expertise, strategic direction, and support to colleagues and clients.

The role will help shape underwriting practices, product development, client solutions, and future team growth.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead development of the future Life Acceptance Underwriting function across the Middle East.
  • Provide technical advice to Life reinsurance underwriters and clients.
  • Advise clients on life-risk classification, rating, selection, and assessment processes.
  • Build client relationships through meetings, workshops, visits, and market events.
  • Develop and maintain Life Acceptance assessment tools with the wider team and IT.
  • Contribute to product development, including medical and financial considerations.
  • Improve underwriting solutions, client services, and commercial value propositions.
  • Manage the Life Acceptance portfolio against risk appetite, guidelines, and profitability objectives.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, IT, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Build, lead, and develop the future Middle East Life Acceptance Underwriting team.

About You

  • The candidate should have extensive Life Acceptance Underwriting experience.
  • Strong medical and financial underwriting expertise is required.
  • Experience in the life insurance or reinsurance industry is required.
  • Leadership, coaching, or people management experience is required.
  • The candidate should be able to explain complex technical information clearly and build relationships.
  • The role requires strategic thinking, sound decision-making, commercial awareness, and collaboration across teams.
  • Experience supporting projects, change, or new underwriting capabilities is required.
  • Continuous professional development and strong technical knowledge are expected.
