Role overview

Leak detection and customer service

• Locate leaks on water mains and service pipes using advanced detection techniques and mobile technology.
• Conduct leak-detection activities, resolve issues promptly and explain findings and solutions to customers.
• Use sounding, correlating and noise logging to identify hidden leaks.
• Support planned surveys and respond to urgent issues identified by analysts.
• Provide face-to-face customer assistance and manage expectations under company policies and operational requirements.
• Work accurately against set targets to help maintain water supply and minimise disruption.

Working arrangements

• Field role covering urban and rural locations and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• A fully equipped van is provided for business use, with a fuel card; the van is kept at the employee's home when not in use.
• The role includes an operational contractual standby rota and occasional evening and weekend work.

Candidate requirements

• Proven customer service experience and strong problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently after training, walk long distances daily and demonstrate self-motivation.
• Positive attitude, adaptability and technical aptitude for varied outdoor work.
• Competent with mobile technology, including smartphones and tablets.
• Full UK manual driving licence required.
• Candidates do not need prior water-industry experience; training and support are provided.

Pre-employment checks

• The role is designated safety or security critical and requires a drug and alcohol test following a formal offer.
• A DBS check is required before employment.

Pay

• The description gives a salary range of £27,833–£32,745 and separately lists salary from £28,668.
