Role overview

Lead Software Development Engineer role based in the Hyderabad team context, working on DAZN's consumer platform.

Lead a team of engineers and own design and delivery of scalable frontend and backend services.

Partner with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering Managers, Architects, and other engineering teams to deliver experiences for sports fans.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead full-stack application design, development, and delivery; own technical architecture and contribute to engineering strategy.
  • Drive engineering standards, quality processes, and scalable, resilient, secure, highly available cloud-native solutions.
  • Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and design sessions; mentor and coach engineers.
  • Collaborate across Product, UX, QA, DevOps, and Platform Engineering.
  • Improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, observability, and security; drive CI/CD, release automation, and developer productivity.
  • Identify technical debt, define modernization strategies, champion Agile practices, and evaluate emerging technologies.

Experience and technical requirements

  • 10–12+ years of professional software development experience with strong full-stack expertise.
  • Extensive large-scale application experience with React.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3; strong Node.js backend experience.
  • Experience with Micro Frontend Architecture, distributed systems, microservices, AWS, and serverless architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with GraphQL, REST APIs, API design, Docker, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud deployments.
  • Kubernetes is preferred. Experience optimizing performance and caching, software architecture and scalable system design, build tools, testing, and CI/CD is specified.

Additional skills and expertise

  • Build tools include Webpack, Vite, Babel, and package management.
  • Observability and monitoring tools may include New Relic, Grafana, Datadog, or similar platforms.
  • Problem-solving, analytical thinking, debugging, communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership are sought.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading high-performing engineering teams is sought.
