Core Responsibilities
- Enhance and extend Orion's capabilities in collaboration with designers, scientists, and software engineers.
- Architect and optimize the high-performance compute and storage systems that drive the platform.
- Build cutting-edge features and modernize existing software.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, biology, chemistry, or a similar field is required.
- At least 5 years of experience designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging complex distributed systems is required.
- Expertise in Python, pytest, packaging, Django, Go, testing, and client/server development is required.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQLite, relational database optimization, and structural database design is required.
- Experience in life sciences, HPC, AWS, Docker, and containerized systems is required.
- Experience with unit and end-to-end testing, CI/CD, source control, code review, and command-line interfaces is required.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, analysis, and problem-solving skills are required.
- The role requires collaboration across development, science, design, and customer success teams, often across time zones.
