Lead Field Engineer - Mechanical

Role overview

Field engineering and quality

• Lead construction quality audits, checkpoints, FAT procedures and testing, and site inspections against contract documents, approved submittals, and codes.
• Oversee contractor technical compliance with drawings, specifications, schedules, ES&H plans, quality standards, and safety codes.
• Monitor contractor performance, project status, schedule, cost control, and change management.
• Coordinate with Engineering and other disciplines to provide construction teams with timely, accurate information.
• Lead site technical coordination with contractors, engineers, the client, and stakeholders.

Work planning and project delivery

• Review schedules, commodity and resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules, and submittals to maintain available construction work fronts.
• Verify permits and licenses are secured and requirements met before site work begins.
• Lead review and approval of contractor submittals, technical queries, field changes, drawings, and as-builts.
• Verify site materials and equipment comply with applicable standards and technical specifications.
• Coordinate contractual activities and contractor interfaces, guide construction engineers, and lead review meetings.
• Ensure project closeout is systematic and complete.

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 10 years of relevant large-scale construction experience in a contractor role or senior role with a project management consultant or delivery partner.
• Experience managing contractor progress, quality, and compliance.
• Experience in KSA, the Middle East, or GCC is required.
• Experience supervising and administering subcontractors or client contractors.

Required knowledge and skills

• Knowledge of international standards, specifications, codes, safety procedures, mechanical installations, and construction-site practices.
• Experience with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), permit to work, and implementation of ES&H and quality management systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Six Sigma process improvement knowledge and experience with site-wide mechanical equipment, pump stations, HVAC, or district cooling installations are preferred.

Workplace and project

• The work location is Riyadh, and telework is described as full-time office/project.
• The role requires field engineering and site coordination for the Expo 2030 Riyadh infrastructure program.
