What you will do:

  • Develop comprehensive electrical design documentation for industrial automation systems—such as schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and bills of materials—using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, SolidWorks).
  • Design and implement electrical systems from early-stage R&D prototypes to production-ready solutions, including component specification and sizing, DFMEA, requirements traceability (RTM), verification and validation testing, and compliance with applicable regulatory and safety standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, CE, UL, CSA).
  • Support hands-on activities related to cable assembly, electrical component integration, equipment installation, and other development and testing tasks.
  • Create and optimize 3D layouts of electrical components within enclosures, control panels, and junction boxes, aligning with manufacturability, serviceability, and safety requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of existing products through cross-functional collaboration (mechanical, controls, manufacturing, quality, etc.), delivering robust, integrated automation solutions.
  • Who you are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 3–7 years of relevant industry experience, including development of electrical and pneumatic design documentation using platforms like AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical system integration, from wiring and panel builds to commissioning activities.
  • Solid understanding of industrial components such as motors, drives, sensors, and automation equipment.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional engineering projects, contributing to planning, prioritization, risk tracking, and execution of technical milestones.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including application of structured engineering methodologies such as DfX, DFMEA, and root cause analysis, with the ability to work effectively in both R&D and production environments.
  • It would be a plus if you also possess:
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety and regulatory standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, CE, UL, CSA).
  • Registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) as a P.Eng., EIT, etc.
  • Experience with PCB/PCBA design and circuit analysis.
  • Experience with power systems and/or power electronics.
  • Experience with robotics systems or motion control (servo/stepper systems).
  • High-level familiarity with PLC-controlled automation systems and industrial controls architecture.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies or structured problem-solving frameworks (e.g., Lean, DBS).
