Role and platform
Lead DevOps Engineer in the analytical tooling strand of DSIT’s analytical platform project.
The team is building a unified analytical tooling and data platform so departmental analysts can access tools and data quickly and securely.
The platform is based on the Ministry of Justice’s open-source Analytical Platform; user acceptance testing is complete and analyst migration is being prepared.
Role responsibilities
- Own and extend infrastructure and tools that enable analysts to work securely.
- Deliver secure, scalable analytical tools, including JupyterLab, RStudio, VS Code, GitHub integration and cloud-based workflow orchestration.
- Work with the team to add platform features and iterate using short feedback cycles with users.

- The team combines expertise in data engineering, DevOps and software development and works collaboratively with significant autonomy.
- The role offers an opportunity to take on a leadership role within the team.
Employment and pay
- Contract type is permanent.
- Working patterns listed include full-time, part-time, flexible working and job share.
- Salary range is £58,275–£71,040, with separate national and London ranges and a possible allowance of up to £10,000 depending on skills, qualifications and experience.
- A Civil Service Pension is offered with an employer contribution of 28.97%.
