The Lead Associate - Front End Engineering role is a hands-on senior engineering position equivalent in scope to a UK Senior Engineer.
The role delivers user-facing software across Davies’s consulting and technology estate, primarily within Agile engineering squads.
Front-End Engineering
- Design and maintain React and TypeScript applications, reusable components, shared UI patterns, and design-system-aligned experiences.
- Contribute to routing, state management, data fetching, forms, validation, error handling, and API integration.
- Deliver responsive, accessible, intuitive user experiences with UX/UI colleagues and Product Owners.
Quality and DevOps
- Create automated unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests using tools such as Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library, and Playwright.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, quality gates, static analysis, deployment readiness, performance, observability, resilience, and maintainability.
- Apply secure coding practices to authentication, authorization, API consumption, data handling, and dependencies.
Technical Contribution
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews, pairing, design discussions, and technical guidance.
- Diagnose complex front-end issues and collaborate with architects, backend, QA, platform, and third-party teams.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, recruitment input, shared standards, continuous learning, and engineering improvement.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent delivery capability.
- Strong commercial or enterprise experience delivering modern React and TypeScript applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with front-end architecture, reusable components, REST APIs, secure authentication and authorization, and automated testing.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, accessibility, responsive design, browser performance, and OWASP principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, background services, or modern back-end patterns.
- Experience with SQL Server, Entity Framework Core, data modelling, query optimisation, or transactional consistency.
