Senior technical authority providing hands-on technical leadership and delivering software for Davies’ UK&I technology estate.
Guide engineering squads in cloud-native architectures and Agile delivery; promote robust, scalable, secure, and maintainable software.
The role describes a T-shaped engineer with deep specialization in back end, front end, cloud, or DevOps and broad exposure to the Microsoft-centric stack.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design and development of high-quality cloud-native applications; write secure code following SOLID principles, design patterns, and OWASP guidelines.
- Develop microservices, containerized applications, and event-driven components; implement TDD, integration testing, and CI/CD automation.
- Support observability, resilience engineering, and performance tuning.
- Promote engineering autonomy and maturity; coach and mentor developers on design, coding, and problem-solving.
- Shape engineering frameworks, patterns, and best practices; support recruitment, onboarding, and capability development.
Skills and experience
- 8–10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in C# and .NET or Python; modern front-end experience with React, Angular, or Vue.
- Advanced Azure experience or AWS/GCP equivalent; strong microservices, event-driven architecture, and Domain-Driven Design expertise.
- Strong SQL Server and Entity Framework capabilities; test-driven development and automated testing practices.
- CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, secure coding practices, and familiarity with OWASP principles.
