About the role

• Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is seeking a dedicated Lawyer to join our Gippsland team.
• As a Lawyer, you'll provide high-quality legal services, duty lawyer support, casework and advice, with a primary focus on criminal law and family violence.
• You'll also advocate for our clients in various courts and tribunals and help improve access to justice for those who need it most.
• Travel to provide community outreach is part of the role, and we offer flexible working arrangements.
• *This role is based at either our Bairnsdale or Morwell offices on Gunai Kurnai Country.*
• About YouAs Our Ideal Candidate, You Will Possess
• Ability to represent clients in criminal law and family violence matters in court.
• A current Australian practising certificate or (eligible to apply for an Australian practising certificate), that entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
• High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and external stakeholders, handling sensitive and complex issues.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to a supportive team environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
