Key responsibilities

• Manage daily hospital laboratory operations and ensure accurate, reliable, timely test processing and reporting.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff and support professional development.
• Develop laboratory policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols; ensure compliance with quality systems, accreditation, and regulations.
• Monitor quality assurance and quality control programs across laboratory sections.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance, calibration, and validation; manage inventory, supplies, reagents, and procurement.
• Ensure appropriate specimen collection, handling, storage, and disposal.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and healthcare professionals to support patient care.
• Prepare operational reports, performance metrics, and budget recommendations.
• Lead improvements in efficiency, safety, and service quality; ensure occupational safety, infection prevention, and biohazard compliance.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• At least 5–7 years of laboratory experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, diagnostic laboratory, or medical centre is required.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, quality control, and accreditation standards.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary services, including hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and blood banking.
• Demonstrated leadership, staff management, operational planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in laboratory management, healthcare management, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist certification or registration in the candidate's home country is preferred.
• Experience with LIS and electronic medical records, and familiarity with international accreditation standards and quality management systems, are preferred.
