Role overview
Support academic and research activities across departments and programmes in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
Manage and maintain laboratory equipment, provide technical support, uphold safety protocols, assist research, and help maintain a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and arrange repairs for laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Maintain supply inventory and accurate equipment and supplies database records.
- Implement and enforce laboratory health and safety protocols.
- Provide technical assistance for experiments using laboratory and research equipment.
- Deliver training and workshops on laboratory techniques, equipment operation, and safety.
- Collaborate with researchers and faculty on experiment design, procedures, and protocols.
- Prepare demonstrations and practical exercises and support instructors with course delivery.
- Supervise and mentor students in laboratory sessions and ensure compliance with protocols and safety guidance.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
