Job Description

As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the scientific and medical community by supporting laboratory operations and research activities.

This position is ideal for candidates with a keen interest in science, excellent attention to detail, and a strong ability to follow protocols.

The role involves preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, assisting with experiments, and ensuring that all laboratory environments are kept safe and clean.

You will be collaborating with scientists, technicians, and other laboratory personnel to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory equipment and ensure all tools are in working condition.
  • Assist scientists and researchers in conducting experiments and tests.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment at all times.
  • Collect, label, and store samples accurately for future reference or testing.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory processes, results, and inventory.
  • Set up and calibrate laboratory instruments according to standard procedures.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials safely following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Monitor stock levels and order supplies to ensure laboratory operations continue smoothly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment as needed.
  • Comply with all safety and regulatory requirements to prevent accidents and contamination.
  • Support in the preparation of reports and documentation of experimental results.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for equipment servicing and procurement as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in science is advantageous.
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with laboratory software applications.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations pertaining to laboratory work.
