Kitchen Steward

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Steward to join our team in Sofitel Brisbane Central. As a Kitchen Steward, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of our kitchen facilities, ensuring a smooth and safe operation for our culinary team.

• Clean and sanitise all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, and work surfaces, adhering to established cleaning schedules and food safety standards
• Wash, sanitise, and properly store all kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and glassware using industrial dishwashers or hand-washing techniques as appropriate
• Assist in the maintenance of food storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage, ensuring proper organisation and cleanliness
• Remove and dispose of kitchen waste regularly, keeping the kitchen and waste areas free from refuse
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to the Kitchen Management
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient and organised work environment
• Participate in regular cleaning inspections and quality control checks
• Adapt to changing priorities and assist with additional kitchen duties as required. You will excel in this role if you have:
• Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role, preferably in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and capable of heavy lifting, pushing and pulling.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe work environment
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
• Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and at night time as needed
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and procedures
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations and equipment
