Junior Site Engineer – Civil

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day civil construction activities at the site.
• Ensure work follows approved drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, workers, and senior engineers.
• Monitor progress, report updates, and ensure proper sequencing of construction activities.
• Check workmanship and material quality, identify deviations, and coordinate corrective action.
• Take completed-work measurements and assist with measurement sheets, measurement books, and billing measurements.
• Maintain daily site reports, progress records, photographs, material consumption, and work quantities.
• Read architectural and structural drawings and coordinate drawing clarifications.
• Monitor manpower deployment and material availability and usage.
• Ensure basic safety practices are followed and report unsafe conditions and site issues.
• Highlight delays, material requirements, and manpower requirements.

Requirements

• B.E., B.Tech, or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• One to two years of relevant building-construction experience; fresh candidates with strong practical site knowledge may also be considered.
• Basic knowledge of civil construction practices and quantity measurement.
• Ability to read structural and architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of concrete, reinforcement, shuttering, masonry, and finishing works.
• Basic AutoCAD knowledge is preferred.
• Basic MS Excel knowledge.
• Good communication, coordination, and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work at construction sites in Chennai.

Compensation

• Salary is ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 per month.

Workplace and Employment

• The role is full-time and performed in person at construction sites in Chennai.
