About This Role

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Legal Advisor with an interest in corporate and commercial law, shipping, oil & gas, marine construction and engineering works to join our team at NMDC Group of Companies. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in any of the above mentioned areas with a strong understanding of corporate and commercial, contractual, tendering, shipping and marine construction matters. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and for providing legal support and advice on various legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing and revising a wide range of commercial agreements and other legal documentation including but not limited to guidelines, policies and commercial agreements including charterparty agreements, subcontracts, service agreements, pre-bid agreements, NDA’s, JV agreements, MOU’s, framework agreements, tender documents, supply agreements, sale and purchase agreements, FIDIC contracts.
  • Analyze, interpret and inform management about risks and mitigation measures.
  • Maintain a record of the legal documentation and agreements in the Group’s legal database.
  • Provide assistance, support and legal advice to other functions and departments.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Group policies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date the Group entities’ corporate records, ensuring accuracy.
  • Facilitate effective communication among team members, senior management and other relevant departments and external advisors when required.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on laws, regulations, legal articles, treaties, decrees, ministerial resolutions and other codes of law and prepare reports / documents to support the legal activities of the Group within deadlines.
  • Monitor, stay up to-date and advise on changes in law and regulations relevant to the business requirements of the Group.
  • Ensure that the Group entities comply with applicable laws and regulations in their respective countries, primarily in the UAE, Middle East, east Asia, Africa and regions relevant to the business.
  • Ensure all appropriate internal processes and procedures are followed, providing advice, support and guidance where needed.

Safeguard the confidentiality and protection of data, information, and other sensitive information related to the Group and its connected / affiliated entities, suppliers and clients.

  • Support the legal team in managing litigation and dispute resolution process.
  • Perform / carry out other duties or additional tasks assigned by the General Counsel, Legal Director(s) or other seniors as and when required.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Juris Doctor (JD) Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal degree from a recognized institution.

Relevant qualification from civil or common law jurisdiction.

Experience: 1 year of legal experience, with a strong focus on corporate and commercial law, shipping, oil & gas, marine construction and/or engineering ideally within a law firm or in-house.

Skills :

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively. .
  • Proficient in using legal research tools.
  • Must possess a can-do attitude, do actions and high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage confidential information
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task and possess solid time management skills
  • Must be an excellent communicator and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with team members at all levels, regulators and other third parties.
  • Computer literate and capable with all MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Languages : Proficiency in English language. Arabic language is a plus.
