Junior Accountant

Role purpose

General accounting

• Record and verify daily journal entries; monitor and classify revenue and expenses.
• Maintain and reconcile accounts payable and receivable; perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Review invoices and payment documents; assist with monthly and annual closing and periodic reporting.
• Maintain financial records, coordinate transaction checks across departments, and support internal and external audits.

Ride-hailing transaction accounting

• Reconcile trip data with accounting records and trace trip transactions to appropriate ledger accounts.
• Analyze fares, collections, driver earnings, commissions, operational and regulatory fees, VAT, discounts, incentives, refunds, penalties, and adjustments.
• Verify debit and credit entries; prevent duplicated, omitted, or incorrectly classified transactions.
• Reconcile cash and electronic payments and review driver settlements, commissions, deductions, bonuses, and incentives.
• Investigate discrepancies and prepare reports linking trip activity to revenue, expenses, collections, and balances.
• Coordinate with technical teams on data flows and missing, duplicated, or incorrectly recorded transactions.

Systems and integration

• Use an accounting or ERP system for entries, transactions, reconciliations, and reporting; work with the Chart of Accounts and account mapping.
• Review automated integrations, imports, or manual entries and trace transactions from application source through ledger to financial report.
• Help improve accounting mappings, reconciliation procedures, and reports to reduce manual work and errors.

Tax and compliance

• Assist with VAT records, reports, tax invoices, returns, audits, and reviews.
• Support compliance with ZATCA requirements and ensure reported figures trace back to transactions and accounting records.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and 2–3 years of practical accounting experience.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles, journal entries, reconciliations, and the Chart of Accounts.
• Practical experience or demonstrable knowledge translating operational transactions into accounting entries and correct ledger allocations.
• Experience with a complete accounting or ERP system, including entries, mappings, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and good understanding of VAT and ZATCA requirements in Saudi Arabia.
• Technology, payment processing, e-commerce, or ride-hailing experience is an advantage.
• Fluent Arabic and a good working level of English.

Systems and tools

• Familiarity with one or more of Qoyod, Daftra, Zoho Books or Zoho Finance, SAP, Odoo, or equivalent accounting or ERP systems.

Work skills

• Accuracy, attention to detail, data analysis, discrepancy investigation, and follow-through on corrective action.
• Ability to handle high volumes of daily transactions, organize work, prioritize, and communicate across Finance, Operations, and Technical teams.
• Professionalism and strict confidentiality when handling financial information.
