Java Software Engineer - Connectors - Remote

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance, fault-tolerant connector integrations and adapters.
• Architect cloud-native microservices and build data pipelines across REST, SOAP, GraphQL, gRPC, webhooks, and event-driven patterns.
• Drive subsystem technical decisions, contribute to RFCs and architecture reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing; own operational health and observability.
• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and SRE to deliver features, resolve incidents, and improve reliability.
• Champion code reviews, testing, security hardening, and performance optimization; contribute to infrastructure and developer experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing and building large-scale distributed backend systems with high throughput and low latency.
• 5+ years of production experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures, including isolation, rate limiting, and resource management.
• Proven system design and architectural decision-making experience, including mentoring engineers.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for complex production issues in distributed systems.
• Deep experience with microservices, service decomposition, API design, and inter-service communication.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure; familiarity with Kubernetes and serverless patterns.
• Strong engineering fundamentals, including SOLID, design patterns, system design, and testing strategies.
• Expert Java 8+ experience; protocol knowledge including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and gRPC.
• Experience with message brokers, SQL and NoSQL databases, Docker, Git, CI/CD, Linux, and observability tooling.

Technical skills

• Java ecosystem experience may include Spring Boot, Guava, and Netty.
• Message broker options include RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, or similar.
• NoSQL options include MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Cassandra.
• CI/CD tools may include GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD; infrastructure as code may include Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Observability tools include ELK or Splunk, Prometheus or Grafana, and Jaeger or Zipkin.
