Java Software Engineer - Connectors - Remote

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design high-performance, fault-tolerant connector integrations and adapters for mission-critical workflows.
• Architect cloud-native distributed microservices for multi-tenant SaaS environments.
• Build and optimize pipelines using REST, SOAP, GraphQL, gRPC, webhooks, and synchronous, asynchronous, or event-driven patterns.
• Drive subsystem decisions, contribute to RFCs and architecture reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
• Own monitoring, logging, tracing, and operational health of deployed systems.
• Partner with Product, DevOps, and SRE on features, production incidents, and platform reliability.
• Champion code reviews, testing, security hardening, and performance optimization.
• Contribute to shared platform infrastructure and developer experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building large-scale distributed backend systems with high throughput and low latency.
• 5+ years of production experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture, isolation, rate limiting, and resource management.
• Demonstrated system-design and architecture decision-making experience, including mentoring engineers.
• Strong debugging skills for complex production issues in distributed systems.
• Deep microservices experience, including service decomposition, API design, and inter-service communication.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure; familiarity with Kubernetes and serverless patterns.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including SOLID, design patterns, system design, and testing.
• Expert Java 8+ skills, including concurrency, performance tuning, and memory management.
• Protocol knowledge across REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and gRPC, including HTTP semantics and error handling.
• Messaging experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, or similar; knowledge of delivery and stream processing.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database experience, including consistency trade-offs.
• Proficiency with Docker, Git, CI/CD, Linux, and observability practices.

Technical skills

• Java ecosystem technologies include Spring Boot, Guava, and Netty.
• Databases include SQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Cassandra.
• CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tools may include GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
• Observability tools include ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, and Zipkin.
