Role Purpose
The role is responsible for establishing and delivering a consistent, strategic communications approach across the IT function.
The role develops clear, engaging comms material that supports IT strategy and other prioritised initiatives in the IT portfolio, while working closely with corporate comms and marketing to ensure messaging is aligned with organisational standards and delivered through the most effective channels.
The role plays a key part in improving transparency, engagement and understanding of IT strategy and priorities across both IT and the wider business.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain a single IT comms plan aligned to the IT strategy and prioritised portfolio.
- Establish communication framework, templates and governance for IT messaging.
- Create clear, engaging content including intranet articles, townhall slides, CIO announcements etc.
- Translate complex technical or strategic topics into accessible, business friendly messaging, ensuring messaging is consistent and aligned with agreed narrative
- Ensure alignment between IT comms and corporate messaging.
- Plan and coordinate regular IT comms such as townhalls
- Work closely with corporate comms and marketing team to align messaging, tone and brand standards, ensuring comms are delivered through appropriate channels.
- Work closely with program and delivery teams to support developing a single comms plan.
- Gather feedback and monitor engagement to continuously improve communication approaches.
- Establish metrics to measure effectiveness and reach of IT communications.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Communications or related discipline
- Experience in communications within data, digital or technology functions.
- Strong content creation and storytelling skills with the ability to simply complex topics.
- Experience developing structured and unified comms plans and governance.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Understanding of IT initiatives and technology transformations.
- Clear and confident communicator.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality communications under tight timeline.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented.
- Collaborative and relationship-focused.
- Proactive and adaptable.
