About This Role

Work Location Doha, Qatar Expected duration 01 June 2026 - 30 November 2026 with the option to extend for a further five to six months, based on the needs of the office and the availability of the intern. Duties and Responsibilities The UNODC Regional Centre for Combatting Cybercrime in Doha (the Centre) was established in June 2023. It results from a partnership between the State of Qatar and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The Centre operates under and as part of the Global Programme on Cybercrime and represents the UNODC as the UNODC Programme Office in Qatar under the UNODC Regional Office for the GCC Region (OGCCR) in the organizational structure of the UNODC. The Centre aims to support the mission of UNODC's Global Programme on Cybercrime, which is to work on strengthening global responses to counter and prevent cyber-related crime through innovative, integrated, and customized solutions. The internship is located in the UNODC Regional Center for Combating Cybercrime in Doha. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of the Center, supporting the Center’s daily IT and operational needs. For more information on UNODC, please visit: www.unodc.org Qualifications/special skills Applicants for an internship must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). The candidate should also be; Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or Has graduated with a university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset. Additional Information This internship is unpaid. The intern will work five days per week (40 hours). A completed online application (Cover Note and Personal History Profile) is required. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. The Cover Note must include: - Name of university and title of degree you are currently pursuing - Graduation date (when you expect to graduate from the programme) - A listing of IT skills and programmes that you are proficient in. - An explanation of why you are the best candidate for an internship with the Regional Center for Combating Cybercrime in Doha. - An explanation of your interest in the work of UNODC. Applicants must attach to their application documentary evidence of continuing matriculation to a university degree programme in a graduate/post-graduate school during the planned period of internship with POQAT/UNODC (i.e. an official letter of confirmation from a university).
