Overview
The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all instrumentation, control systems, and associated equipment in a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant.
The role ensures accurate measurement, control, and monitoring of plant processes to maintain optimal performance, efficiency, and safety.
1. Installation & Commissioning
- Install, wire, and connect sensors, transmitters, controllers, flow meters, level switches, pressure gauges, and other instrumentation equipment in RO plants.
- Assist in the commissioning of RO plant instrumentation, control panels, and automation systems.
- Ensure proper integration with SCADA, PLC, or DCS systems.
2. Calibration & Testing
- Calibrate instruments (pH, conductivity, flow, pressure, level, temperature, ORP, etc.) according to manufacturer specifications and plant standards.
- Perform functional tests of control loops to verify correct operation.
- Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation.
3. Operation & Troubleshooting
- Monitor plant instruments and alarms to ensure proper operation of RO systems.
- Identify and troubleshoot faults in instruments, sensors, and control systems.
- Replace faulty instruments or components with minimal disruption to plant operations.
- Work closely with operators and engineers to resolve process or measurement issues.
4. Maintenance & Preventive Care
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.
- Inspect, clean, and service instruments regularly to ensure long-term reliability.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and recommend procurement as needed.
- Update maintenance logs and reports for management review.
5. Compliance & Safety
- Follow safety standards and plant procedures during all instrumentation work.
- Ensure all work complies with company, regulatory, and environmental standards.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and training programs.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation for all instruments, including wiring diagrams, calibration records, and maintenance logs.
- Prepare reports on instrumentation performance, faults, and improvements.
- Support engineers in plant performance analysis and troubleshooting reports.
Required Experiences
- 5–8 years of experience in automation, instrumentation, or control engineering, preferably in water treatment or industrial plants.
- Experience in project execution, system integration, and site testing.

- Technical Proficiency:
- 6–8 years in instrumentation maintenance for water treatment or RO plants.
- Analytical Skills:
- Ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions effectively.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of RO plant instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, pH, conductivity sensors).
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical & instrumentation diagrams.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and calibration skills.
- Communication:
- Strong coordination and reporting skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail:
- Ensures accuracy and completeness in system setup, testing, and documentation.
- Safety Awareness:
- Demonstrates strict adherence to electrical and operational safety protocols.

- Diploma degree in Instrumentation
