Role overview
The Instrumentation & Automation Engineer oversees instrumentation, control, automation, PLC, SCADA, testing, and commissioning for a sewage treatment plant project.
The role coordinates with civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and commissioning teams to deliver integrated plant automation systems.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise instrumentation, control, automation, SCADA, installation, calibration, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Review IFC drawings, specifications, control philosophies, technical submittals, P&IDs, I/O lists, schedules, and control-system documentation.
- Monitor PLC and SCADA programming, configuration, graphics, alarms, trends, logic, and communication interfaces.
- Witness loop checks, point-to-point and functional testing, signal verification, FAT, and SAT where applicable.
- Coordinate system integration across PLC, SCADA, MCCs, VFDs, analyzers, remote panels, and other plant systems.
- Monitor contractor quality and compliance; inspect equipment and follow up inspection requests, site observations, and NCRs.
- Coordinate with suppliers and OEMs, report project progress, and support testing, commissioning, and operational handover.
- Review calibration records, test reports, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, spare-parts lists, training records, and handover documents.
Project requirements
- Ensure work meets Dubai Municipality requirements, project specifications, approved drawings, applicable international standards, and quality procedures.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, process, MEP, and commissioning disciplines.
