Role overview

The role begins in a focused project team for 12–18 months, identifying opportunities to improve value, reduce complexity, and deliver business benefits without compromising food quality.

As project outputs are embedded, the role transitions to a broader Ingredients Manager remit within the development team.

The role is based at apetito’s UK Head Office in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

Initial project responsibilities

  • Deliver ingredient, raw material, packaging, and finished product opportunities that improve cost, quality, consistency, operational performance, and customer proposition.
  • Partner with Procurement, suppliers, project teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop viable ideas and implement solutions.
  • Manage an opportunity pipeline with defined benefits, plans, timings, dependencies, risks, resources, and governance.
  • Challenge unnecessary cost, complexity, duplication, and over-specification while safeguarding food safety, compliance, quality, customer expectations, and operations.
  • Evaluate ingredients, materials, and finished products through assessments, trials, technical validation, and impact analysis.
  • Drive approved changes through specification, change control, data, trial approval, and implementation processes.

Ingredients Manager responsibilities

  • Lead introduction of new and improved raw materials, packaging, and finished goods after the initial 12–18 months.
  • Lead Food Technologists and the NPD Raw Material and Change Control Coordinator, aligning priorities, workload, resources, and projects.
  • Ensure product information and specifications are delivered accurately and in compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

Candidate profile

  • Proven track record delivering cross-functional projects within food manufacturing.
  • Technical expertise, commercial awareness, and project management discipline.
  • Ability to balance cost, complexity, quality, and risk in a commercially thoughtful way.
  • Highly organized, energetic, and results-focused, with the ability to structure complex work and prioritize valuable opportunities.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity with pace, resilience, and sound judgment.
