Health Care Assistant

Role purpose

Patient care duties

• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, hygiene, eating, hydration, and meal support according to the care plan.
• Support mobility, walking, positioning, transfers, prescribed exercises, fall prevention, and home safety.
• Provide companionship and emotional support; assist with care-related household activities.
• Observe patient condition, record basic observations when trained and authorized, and promptly report changes, emergencies, accidents, falls, or incidents.
• Assist with continence care, diaper changes, turning, and pressure-injury prevention.
• Accompany patients to appointments, diagnostic visits, or activities when required.
• Maintain privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity; follow infection-control procedures and use PPE appropriately.
• Maintain clean, safely stored care equipment and follow instructions from the Registered Nurse or clinical supervisor.

Qualifications

• Healthcare Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or Caregiver qualification from a recognized institution.
• Relevant DHA eligibility/license where applicable to the position and regulatory requirements.
• Current BLS certification is preferred; 1–2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Experience in elderly care, homecare, long-term care, rehabilitation, or hospital support services is an advantage.

Skills and competencies

• Personal care, elderly care, mobility assistance, positioning, and safe transfers.
• Infection-control awareness and basic understanding of patient safety and emergency procedures.
• Compassionate, respectful, patient, and emotionally mature approach; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow care plans and clinical instructions accurately; reliability, punctuality, and professional conduct.
• Ability to communicate in English; additional languages are an advantage.

Working conditions

• Home-based patient assignments across Dubai/UAE; work is in person at patient locations.
• Shift coverage may include days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Assignments may involve hourly visits, 8- or 12-hour shifts, or long-term patient-care arrangements, depending on operational requirements.
