The Role We’re looking for a
Head of Design (UX/UI)
- who can architect, lead, and evolve the way design operates across Disrupt’s ecosystem of ventures.
- This is not a traditional design director role-it’s a venture-native, AI-first leadership position where design equals strategy, execution, and unfair advantage.
- As Head of Design, you will:
- Build and scale the Disrupt Design System-a library of reusable UI/UX patterns, brand kits, and agent-powered templates that every new startup can launch with.
- Lead UX/UI excellence across ventures, ensuring that every product, landing page, and funnel is high-performing, conversion-optimized, and distinctively branded.
- Shape the new frontier of design: working with AI agents, automation, and reusable components to deliver 70% faster without sacrificing creativity or distinctiveness.
- Partner with product, GTM, and founder teams to ensure design is strategy-not decoration.
1. Design Strategy & Intelligence (HQ)
- Own and evolve the Disrupt Design System (DDS): UI kits, brand systems, UX flows, AI prompt templates, and component libraries.
- Codify design standards and frameworks that balance speed, scale, and creative differentiation across 100+ ventures.
- Drive design as a strategic function embedded in product and GTM, not a downstream service.
2. Venture UX/UI Leadership
- Guide embedded design squads across top ventures, providing direction on UX architecture, feature UI, onboarding flows, and CRO-driven product design.
- Ensure every venture has a high-performing, conversion-oriented product experience from MVP to growth stage.
- Balance custom venture identity with DDS-driven scalability.
3. Creative Execution & Growth Design
- Oversee design for launch assets: websites, landing pages, signup flows, and GTM creative.
- Drive CRO experimentation and growth design loops, making data-informed design decisions to increase LTV/CAC performance.
- Collaborate with the Creative Studio for campaign visuals, ensuring seamless integration between product design and marketing storytelling.
4. AI-Native Design Ops
- Build workflows where AI + agents handle 70% of repetitive design work, while designers focus on system-building, curation, and innovation.
- Oversee Figma libraries, permissions, Notion-based intake boards, and automation tools that ensure 48h launch-readiness for new ventures.
- Develop QA systems (AI-assisted) to check design against DDS standards and performance data.
5. Leadership & Culture
- Lead and mentor a distributed team of designers (generalists, UX/UI specialists, motion designers, system builders).
- Create a feedback-driven design culture with monthly councils, retrospectives, and continuous iteration.
- Be a thought leader internally and externally, representing Disrupt’s design philosophy at events, in media, and with partners.
What We’re Looking For Must-Have Experience
- 8+ years in UX/UI design leadership, ideally across startups, agencies, or venture studios.
- Proven ability to design systems at scale (Figma libraries, component frameworks, design ops).
- Deep experience in UX architecture, product flows, CRO, and landing page design.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, multi-venture environments with overlapping timelines.
- Strong grasp of AI design tools (MidJourney, Framer, Runway, Galileo, etc.) and how to integrate them into workflows.
- Thinks in systems, templates, and repeatability-not one-off projects.
- Believes design is strategy, not service.
- Obsessed with speed-to-impact and measurable outcomes (conversion rates, engagement, LTV/CAC).
- Comfortable leading hybrid squads (product + GTM + design) and working cross-functionally.
- Taste level that blends Apple’s design rigor with Uncommon Studio’s creative boldness.
