*A leading UAE bank is seeking an experienced Credit Risk leader to join its senior risk management team in a role that serves as the principal deputy to the Chief Risk Officer.*
*This is a highly visible leadership position with responsibility for both the Bank's Special Assets and Remedial portfolios, alongside second-line oversight of the wider credit portfolio across Corporate, Commercial, SME Banking.*

Approximately 70% of the role will focus on the management and optimisation of stressed, watchlist and non-performing assets, driving recovery strategies, restructuring initiatives and portfolio remediation.
The remaining 30% will involve providing independent second-line challenge and oversight across the broader credit portfolio, ensuring alignment with risk appetite, regulatory expectations and portfolio quality objectives.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading the Bank's Special Assets Management and Remedial functions
- Driving strategies to maximise recoveries and minimise credit losses
- Oversight of distressed restructuring, watchlist and non-performing loan portfolios
- Providing independent portfolio risk assessment and challenge across all lending segments
- Supporting the CRO in credit risk governance, regulatory engagement and Board reporting
- Representing the CRO at key committees and stakeholder forums when required
- Ensuring compliance with UAE Central Bank regulations and credit risk management standards
- Delivering meaningful portfolio insights that influence executive decision-making
- We are particularly interested in candidates who are currently performing a similar role within a UAE-based bank of comparable scale and complexity.
- The successful candidate will possess:
- Extensive experience leading Special Assets, Remedial, Workout, Recovery or Portfolio Credit Risk functions
- Strong knowledge of UAE banking regulations and Central Bank expectations
- Proven success managing distressed and non-performing portfolios
- Broad credit risk expertise across corporate, commercial and retail banking
- Experience operating within a second-line risk management framework
- The credibility and presence to act as a trusted adviser to Executive Management and Board Committees
- A track record of leading teams and developing high-performing risk functions
