We are partnering with a rapidly growing digital asset firm in Dubai to appoint a Head of Compliance . This is a critical leadership position requiring a VARA-approved professional with deep expertise in regulatory frameworks governing virtual assets in the UAE.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the firm’s compliance function in line with Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) requirements
- Act as the approved Compliance Officer and primary liaison with regulators
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls
- Ensure adherence to UAE AML/CFT regulations and international best practices
- Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on regulatory developments and risk exposure
- Oversee KYC/AML programs, transaction monitoring, and reporting obligations
- Manage regulatory submissions, audits, and inspections
- Build and lead a high-performing compliance team
Requirements
- Mandatory: VARA approval as Compliance Officer (or eligibility with prior approval experience)
- Extensive experience in compliance within virtual assets, fintech, or financial services
- Strong knowledge of UAE regulatory frameworks, including AML/CFT laws
- Proven track record dealing with regulators and managing compliance programs
- Leadership experience with the ability to influence at executive level
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Background
- Experience working within a licensed VASP or crypto exchange
- Familiarity with global regulatory standards (e.g., FATF, FCA, MAS)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diploma in Compliance)
