About This Role

OVERVIEW

Destinations of the World News , the leading independent luxury travel and lifestyle publication, is looking for an art director to assume creative leadership of its flagship media platforms and join our team in the heart of Dubai Media City, situated in one of the liveliest commercial capitals of the world.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate graphic designer with solid knowledge of the luxury consumer and publishing industries, and a proven history of designing luxury fashion, travel or lifestyle titles to work on Destinations of the World News,

­­including our monthly print edition, commercial projects, newsletters, and assist with the conceptualisation of the re-design of online platform, DOTWNEWS.COM.

The successful candidate will work alongside the editorial team and managing director, and on occasion external agencies. The person we are looking for will have worked as an art director of a luxury title for an established publishing company, and be familiar with all aspects of print and digital publishing, from content creation, brand development, photo/video shoot creation and digital applications to distribution, marketing and business rationale.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

-      Design a monthly publication and oversee the production timetables with the editorial team.

-      Assist in photoshoot conceptualisation for editorial and commercial requirements. Develop photoshoots/video shoots.

-      Collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements.

-      Collaborate with stakeholders and editor-in-chief to review and refine designs.

-      Maintain and organise design assets, including photography and digital files to ensure easy access and retrieval for projects.

-      Assist with conceptualisation of re-design of DOTWNEWS.COM .

-      Image and occasional video editing.

-      Picture research.

-      Attend client meetings and events on occasion.

-      Develop the design of in-house and client social media content.

-      Create print and digital collateral including brochures, flyers, banners.

-      Newsletter design.

-      Liaise with production partner.

REQUIREMENTS:

-      Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field.

-      Proven experience as an graphic designer or a similar field. Please include links to published work and photoshoot concepts from luxury titles/brands alongside application.

-      Strong creative and technical skills.

-      Proficiency in design software and tools such as of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign is essential.

-      Culturally informed – a passion and knowledge for luxury travel, fashion and automotive.

-      Have an awareness of great photographers, stylists and content creators.

-      Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

-      Hard-working, collaborative, creative.

-      Native English speaker level (Arabic desirable).

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Motion graphics and basic animation
• Image editing and digital design
• Social media content creation tools
• Basic understanding of digital publishing platforms
