Role overview

The Technical Area Lead for Legal is BCG’s foremost technical authority on legal technology.

The role connects legal strategy with technical execution and sets technical direction for major legal technology programmes.

The remit spans contract lifecycle management, conflicts, legal knowledge management, eDiscovery and litigation support, matter allocation and management, insurance, corporate elections, and agentic AI.

Responsibilities

  • Define how the Legal function operates technically and set standards and architecture for building and delivering legal capabilities.
  • Guide platform and vendor selection, delivery trade-offs, SDLC practices, and technology and AI quality observability and health metrics.
  • Lead chapter leads and specialists across Software Engineering & AI, SaaS Engineering, Quality Assurance, Data, and L2 Operations.
  • Create and deliver the Legal Portfolio’s vision, strategy, and outcomes.
  • Align legal platforms and programmes with portfolio risk, compliance, commercial, and firm-wide priorities.
  • Monitor legal technology, agentic AI, and automation trends and identify opportunities.
  • Partner across Legal, Tech, Data, business, architecture, risk, security, and compliance teams.
  • Act as an escalation point for work spanning multiple teams or systems.
