GIS Specialist

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Program and design GIS for roads infrastructure mapping, network analysis, and spatial planning.
• Contribute to geodatabases for road networks, transportation corridors, and infrastructure assets.
• Compile, validate, and analyze GIS data for roads infrastructure, traffic systems, and engineering networks.
• Create spatial databases and manage geospatial information for infrastructure planning and design.
• Generate technical maps, reports, and spatial analyses for engineering decisions and transportation optimization.
• Convert, transfer, and integrate GIS data from multiple sources using GIS software and engineering applications.
• May supervise technicians in data assembly, quality assurance, and GIS input/output processes.
• Apply professional judgment to resolve technical GIS challenges for roads and infrastructure projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in GIS design, development, and spatial analysis.
• Expertise designing and implementing GIS for infrastructure and transportation projects.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent GIS platforms.
• Experience designing and managing geodatabases for large-scale infrastructure networks.
• Experience analyzing geospatial data for infrastructure systems and transportation networks.
• Experience creating technical maps, reports, and spatial analyses for engineering planning.
• Proficiency in GIS data conversion, integration, and transfer from multiple sources.
• Strong technical problem-solving judgment and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional experience in the GCC region and on GCC infrastructure and roads engineering projects.
• GIS certification such as Esri Technical Certification or GIS Professional Certification.
• Experience supervising GIS technicians and managing data quality assurance.
• Knowledge of transportation systems analysis and network optimization.
• Experience with engineering applications and CAD integration with GIS platforms.
• Familiarity with infrastructure asset management systems.

Workplace

• Work location model is on-site.
• New hires must attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
