GIS Analyst

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and maintain campus geospatial datasets using ArcGIS and related tools.
• Produce maps, web maps, and StoryMaps for planning, capital projects, emergency response, and wayfinding.
• Manage basemaps, feature services, symbology, metadata, versioning, QA/QC, governance, and a campus data catalog.
• Conduct spatial and 3D analyses and communicate findings through tables, graphics, and dashboards.
• Develop repeatable workflows and automate ETL, validation, and map production using Python/ArcPy, ModelBuilder, and/or FME.
• Integrate CAD/BIM, survey, and remote-sensing data; support regulatory reporting, privacy requirements, GIS continuity, and emergency mapping.

Education and experience

• Requires a directly related four-year degree or equivalent specialized training; the department will accept education in lieu of experience.
• Requires three years of directly job-related experience.
• Preferred fields include geography/geospatial science, urban planning, environmental science, GIS, computer science, or a related field; an associate degree with 25 years of professional GIS experience is also listed as preferred.
• Preferred experience includes CAD/BIM, survey, remote sensing, 3D GIS, network analysis, mobility/accessibility modeling, QGIS, cloud GIS, versioned enterprise geodatabases, or relevant campus/public-sector work.
• No certification or license is required.

• Uses ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, and Online.
