General Manager, Marine Services

About This Role

Main Job Purpose:

Lead and manage the Marine Services function to deliver safe, reliable, compliant, and commercially viable marine operations, including pilotage, towage, salvage, and marine craft maintenance, while driving business growth, financial discipline, emergency readiness, and alignment with client requirements, maritime regulations, and approved organizational objectives.

Accountabilities

1. Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the Marine Services function in line with approved organizational objectives, customer requirements, and maritime regulatory obligations.
2. Review, enhance, and enforce policies, procedures, controls, and operating standards to ensure disciplined governance, service quality, and operational consistency.
3. Prepare, justify, and monitor the annual budget; control operating costs; analyze financial performance; and implement corrective actions and improvement opportunities.
4. Drive business development in the Red Sea market by promoting marine services, identifying new opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting revenue growth.
5. Manage day-to-day marine operations, including pilotage, towage, salvage, and marine craft deployment, to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted service delivery.
6. Oversee marine craft maintenance planning and execution to maximize asset availability, reliability, utilization, and return on investment.
7. Ensure effective coordination and communication with all relevant internal and external parties to support operational continuity and compliance.
8. Maintain readiness for emergency response and ensure timely coordination with relevant focal points and competent authorities during incidents or crises.
9. Lead recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and development of pilots, tug masters, seafarers, and support staff to build a competent and high-performing workforce.
10. Promote continuous improvement, productivity enhancement, cost optimization, and adoption of international best practices across marine operations and support processes.
11. Review and approve timely and accurate reports while ensuring full compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and security requirements, as well as proactive risk mitigation.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant marine, maritime, engineering, or business-related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Certificates and Licenses: Relevant maritime certifications preferred, such as CoC Class I, STCW, ISM / ISPS awareness, Incident Command, or similar.
• Experience: At least 15years of progressive marine or port operations experience, including 5 years in a senior management role.
• Skills and Knowledge: Strong expertise in marine operations, maritime regulations, asset management, budgeting, reporting, stakeholder management, leadership, and operational improvement.
• Languages: Professional proficiency in both Arabic and English, spoken and written.
